The Gospel is the power of God unto salvation (Rom. 1:16) and it includes freedom from the power of Satan. Those who are born twice are delivered from the power of Satan

The Power of His Resurrection delivers people from the power of Satan. When our federal and first parents sinned, Satan who encouraged them to do so, was not an innocent bystander. His intention was to destroy human beings, the epic created species of God.

Human beings who are equally spirit beings were given capacity to interact with the created order in ways that are different from the Angelic order. Above being the co-regent of God to rule and manage the cosmos, human beings were given a unique ability to procreate offsprings after their kind. We find Lucifer, as tempter of human beings in the Garden of Eden and through his persuasion, human beings disobeyed God and Fell in Sin. Just as Satan created in himself Sin, human beings also created Sin, and became sinful in nature (Rom. 5:12)

Who is Satan?

• Satan, also called Lucifer was (is) an Angel.  Angels are spirit beings with Emotions, Will and Intellect created by God as individual entities for they do not procreate (Math. 22;30)
• Based on his name and description in the scriptures it seems he was created to lead worship in the presence of God (Ezekiel 28:13-17, Isaiah 14:12-15)
• He led a rebellion and a third of the angels followed in the rebellion and became darkened in their nature. Led by Satan, they became sworn enemies of Yahweh and desires to destroy everything that stands for God, especially human beings (Revelation 13).
• We do not know the time frame when Lucifer created his own sin as he rebelled against God, and turned into a diabolical being due to the corrupting nature of sin.
• Spirit entities that followed Lucifer in His Fall have a similar hierarchy of ranks and orders just as good angels. Rev. 12:7 shows Archangel Michael and His Angels fighting with the devil and his angels. He could have had a ranking like Archangel Michael, which is really high. For Angel Michael is called the Chief of Angels

This Lucifer, resorted not only to deceive human beings but also set sinful pathways for him (Satan) to control human beings. Every person who is not a believer in Yahweh is a slave of Satan, whether they know it or not (1 John 3:8). Therefore, they did not just die spiritually—separated from God—but because of their sins, they attracted Lucifer, who become an axis of evil to enslave them. Three diabolical dimensions work together to enslave human beings: Sinful Flesh, the World philosophy and the Devil and his demonic cohort.

Ephesians 2: 1-3 outlines these three axis of evil:

Eph 2:1  And you were dead in the trespasses and sins 

Eph 2:2  in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience— 

Eph 2:3  among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind. 

Jesus’ death is first and foremost, a substitutionary sacrifice for human beings who deserved eternal damnation. However, Jesus was also made manifest to come and destroy the works of Satan (1 John 3:8)

1Jn 3:8 Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil.

To Win someone to the Lord also means getting someone out of the bondage of the Devil. But to get the Person out of the grasp of the power of the Devil we must invoke on the Power of His Resurrection (Math. 12:23-29; Mark 3: 22-27).

The initial key in binding the “strongman” is through Prayer.

The major way the strongman releases the captives is when they (victims) receive Christ in their hearts. The Gospel is the main means of breaking the chains of the devil.

 Four Aspects of Breaking the Hold of the Devil on Someone

1. It happens when People’s Eyes are opened to the Gospel
   • The people without Christ are spiritually blind people.
   • The spiritually blind hear the truth, but they cannot see what it means;
   • The Devil blinds people spiritually.
     2Co 4:3  And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. 
     2Co 4:4  In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
2. It happens when Light of the Gospel drives darkness out of the Hearts of People
   • People who do not have Christ are full of darkness. Spiritual Darkness is the character of one leaving without Christ. Isaiah 9:2 is a messianic prophecy which is fulfilled in Christ (Math. 4:15). “The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned
   • And Jesus declared that He is the light of the world: “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life” (John 8:12)
   • To Receive the Gospel is to have darkness of the heart driven out .
     2Co 4:5  For what we proclaim is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, with ourselves as your servants for Jesus' sake. 
     2Co 4:6  For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. 
3. It happens when Forgiveness of Sins is provided to the Guilt
   • Guilt and unforgiveness are cords that the devil uses to bind the unbelieving.
   • When forgiveness is given, and guilt of the heart lifted, every captive gets free.
   • Forgiveness of Christ demands that one forgive those who wronged them
   • It is of necessity to inform those that get forgiven that they too must exercise the same
     Mark 11:25 - And whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father also who is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.”
4. When one is placed in the community of the Sanctified by Faith
   • When we read of Israel in the wilderness as they tracked from Egypt, they were “already but not yet.”
   • They were rescued from Egypt but Egypt remained in their minds
   • It is essential that the people who receive Christ must quickly learn to apply the word of God to their life situation
   • Some people whose lives are deeply entrenched in the hands and power of the devil may need to experience deliverance.
