BECOMING THE ALIGNED CHURCH

Reading 2 Corinthians 5:20 AMP - An ambassador is an official representative for his or her country, stationed in another nation, In other words, as citizens of heaven God said, what I want to established in that sphere, that community and that nation - I want you to go enforce as though I myself where there, but I will do it through you.

A few weeks ago, God spoke to us about what it means to become Kingdom-minded. It was said that "we are to be conscious of God's agenda, where we live for a purpose greater than ourselves." We were told we would need to understand our place and role in the kingdom, to understand God's desire, and allow him to share his burdens with us. Building on that truth as kingdom-minded people, let us see how Jesus navigated His life so that it showed He was from another kingdom and was able to execute His Father's agenda on earth

An ambassador can go to a nation as a representative of His kingdom, but unless he knows, understands what His kingdom believes and advocates for,  and aligns himself with the sending kingdom's values and agenda, he would be regarded as ineffective.

We, therefore, having believed Christ and confessed with our lips, have entered into this Kingdom of God. To be His effective representatives, we have to align ourselves with Him.

Aligned scriptural meaning

  1. Katartismos (root word katartizo) - a Greek word meaning to restore or perfectly join. Derived from Eph 4:11-12.
  2. Sustoicheo (soos-toy-kheh'-o) - stand or march in the same row (file) with: so once properly, of soldiers, to answer to, resemble. Derived from Philip 3:16 and Gal 5:25.

Let us study Jesus, who is our perfect example, and see how He aligned Himself with God; His will, His ways.

Jesus, our model;

  • He functioned from a place of vision - John 8:38
    • "So Jesus explained, “I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself. He does only what he sees the Father doing. Whatever the Father does, the Son also does.
  • Lived and walked under instruction, what he heard is what he did - John 5:30
    • "I can do nothing on my own initiative or authority. Just as I hear, I judge; and My judgment is just (fair, righteous, unbiased), because I do not seek My own will, but only the will of Him who sent Me.
  • Moved with feeling - Matthew 14:14
    • "When He went ashore, He saw a large crowd, and felt [profound] compassion for them and healed their sick."
  • Guided by knowing - John 13:1, 3
    • "Now before the Passover Feast, Jesus knew that His hour had come [and it was time] for Him to leave this world and return to the Father.
    • ".. that Jesus, knowing that the Father had put everything into His hands, and that He had come from God and was [now] returning to God."

Amazingly, we see Jesus, be fully human and spirit. He used His Spiritual senses. He was led by them, but isn't it amazing that this is a reflection of how our Spirits are alive. Using Jesus as our example, this is how we get into alignment and walk in step with this kingdom we represent.

  1. Aligned through the Word of God:
    • I. Vision: Eph 1:18 - the word of God opens our eyes. It allows us to see what God sees. It unveils our eyes from the cloud of darkness and gives us light.
    • Psalm 119:130 -Understanding your word brings light to the minds of ordinary people.
    • II. Hearing: Prov 4: 20, Ps 119:113
    • The word of God is the place we ought to get the instructions that can come through the reading and hearing of it. You are built from what you hear, consciously or unconsciously therefore guard the gates of your mind and spirit.
  2. Aligned through Prayer
    • Knowing: Eph 1:18 - To walk from a place of Knowing is God's desire for us. Beyond having instinct, God's desire for us as His heirs is to act from a place of ‘’knowing as our God knows
    • -. What does he want us to know: what comes with this calling, the riches of our glorious inheritance.  The decisions to make, the ‘partners to go into business with, the spouses to have, the country to live…the way in which we should go’- Jeremiah 42:3, Ps 32:18
    • “The enemy hopes for our lack of knowledge and understanding. For our lack of desire to even grow in them. For our lack of  what we have: of power, of authority, of riches, of favour, is a waste to us and can be manipulated and misused by those who know what we don't know about ourselves.”
    • Some Reasons Why We Pray:
    • We pray because it allows us to enter into communion with the King of Kings.
    • We pray because It allows us to be one in mind and heart with the King of Glory.
    • We pray because prayer doesn't only change things but it changes us; our visions, our desires and our priorities are transformed.
    • We pray because God speaks the utterances of heaven upon the earth through our lips.
    • We pray because the words of His power through our tongues go to places our feet may never step.
    • We pray because we are not dealing with humans (flesh and blood) but principalities that only respond to the power of the spirit.
    • We pray because we are spiritual beings that are built up through prayer.
    • We pray because that is how we stay awake to hear what the Lord will say to us and see what He says.
    • We pray because that is how we wear our armour to stay equipped in this world of war.
    • We pray because the devil targets our sons and daughters, our husbands and wives and even our unborn children so we request God to take charge for our sake.
    • We pray because that's how we love  our friends and families, our government and our nations.
    • We pray to know what pleases God and do it
  3. Aligned through the Body of Christ
    • Eph 3: 10-19, Eph 4: 11-16
    • -God’s intention is for the church, this body of which he is the head, be the way/channel in which his wisdom and infinite innumerable aspects are known to the world and the heavenly spheres.
    • This is why the enemy brings strife. The enemy is aware that there is great work that must be done by people that are aligned so he causes us to be at war within and in so doing, the enemy weakens our effectiveness as ambassadors.

Conclusion:

To be effective in this kingdom we are in as its representatives, we have to walk in alignment to this king we submit to. Alignment is an action. It is not spontaneous but intentional.

Altar Call

  • Repentance: For times, we have taken ourselves out of alignment through our words, actions or beliefs.
  • Submission and Surrender: Allowing God to bring you into order. Praying for him to give us the hunger to seek his word and pray. To ask God to help you see where he has placed you in the body of Christ.
