2 Samuel 18:12 – But the man replied, “Even if a thousand shekels were weighed out into my hands, I would not lay a hand on the king’s son. In our hearing the king commanded you and Abishai and Ittai, ‘Protect the young man Absalom for my sake.’”

1 Samuel 15:22 – But Samuel replied: “Does the LORD delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the LORD? To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams.”

Deuteronomy 5:33 – Walk in obedience to all that the LORD your God has commanded you, so that you may live and prosper and prolong your days in the land that you will possess.

Luke 11:28 – He replied, "Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it."

Romans 6:16 – Don’t you know that when you offer yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one you obey—whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness?

Philippians 2:8 – And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death—even death on a cross!

1. Pray for Obedience to Authority: Pray that just as the soldier chose to obey the king’s command despite the huge reward, we may obey God’s command to authority placed over us, even when it is difficult or requires sacrifice. Ask for wisdom to discern God’s will and the courage to follow through with it.

2. Pray for Obedience Above Sacrifice: Pray that we may understand that obedience is more pleasing to God than any sacrifice. Ask God for the grace to choose obedience over rituals and outward actions, knowing that true devotion is shown through a willing and humble heart. Pray that we may always seek to listen to God’s voice and follow His commands with love and sincerity.

3. Pray for Blessings Through Obedience: Pray that we may walk in obedience to God’s commands so that we may experience the fullness of His blessings. Ask for strength and discipline to follow His ways in all areas of life, trusting that obedience brings prosperity, long life, and divine favour. Pray that our obedience may not only bless us but also those around us.

4. Pray for Obedience to God’s Word: Pray that we may be among those who hear God’s Word and obey it. Ask that God’s Word may take deep root in our hearts, transforming our thoughts and actions. Pray for the grace to apply His teachings in our daily lives and to trust that obedience leads to true fulfillment and peace.

5. Pray for Righteousness Through Obedience: Pray that we may choose obedience to God over sin, knowing that obedience leads to righteousness and life. Ask for strength to resist temptations that draw us away from God’s will. Pray that our lives may reflect the righteousness that comes through obedience to Christ, becoming a testimony of God’s goodness and faithfulness.

6. Pray for Humility in Obedience: Pray that we may follow the example of Christ, who humbled Himself in obedience, even to the point of death on the cross. Ask for a heart of humility and surrender to God’s will, regardless of the cost. Pray that we may embrace obedience with joy, knowing that it honours God and leads to eternal life
