1 Peter 2:9

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

Matthew 5:15

Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.

1. We were called out of darkness to declare God’s praises. Pray that we will at all times remember our terms of reference – to declare His praises. Pray that we will not waste God’s precious time declaring other things not related to God’s purpose for us.
2. Because we were called into God’s wonderful light, we can see the world better. Pray that we will be willing to help many in this city gain the understanding that we gained. Pray that we shall seek to understand God more and more so that Lilongwe City will not continue walking in ignorance.
3. For us to declare God’s praises, He designated us a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession. Pray that we will understand that we are no ordinary people and will start behaving as such. We will understand that God’s takes us seriously and so we will demonstrate our seriousness.
4. Pray that this year we will make it a point to declare God’s praises in this city, that every part of Lilongwe will hear that there is a good God who takes people out of darkness and brings them into His wonderful light. Pray for creativity in making this Jesus known from Area 1 to Area 59.
5. Pray that no one will dare hide their light. Pray against fear, shame, a feeling of inadequacy but pray that we will understand our responsibility and let go of any careless attitudes that have been stopping us from shining our light.
