Praying for People’s Republic of China (Asia)

“The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” Psalm 34:18

“Then he said to his disciples, ‘The harvest is plentiful, but the labourers are few.’” Matthew 9:37

China is given 15 days of prayer focus in Operation World, from April 5 to April 19, unlike most countries which are usually prayed for over a single day. This reflects its vast size, global influence, and the weight of its political, social, and spiritual challenges. For today, the prayer focus is specifically on China’s Muslim minority peoples, including groups such as the Uyghur, Kazak, Uzbek, Kyrgyz, Tajik, Tatar, Salar, Dongxiang, and Hui. These communities live in isolation and under pressure, and very few Christians in China live and work among them. This calls for prayer for more workers to go to these often isolated and sometimes oppressed peoples with the gospel.

1. Pray that the Lord will visit China’s Muslim minority peoples with mercy, truth, and hope. Ask that those living in isolation, fear, or oppression will encounter Christ and receive comfort, freedom, and salvation.

2. Pray that God will raise and send more labourers to serve among these communities with wisdom, humility, courage, and compassion. Ask the Lord to open doors for gospel witness where access is difficult and ministry is costly.

3. Pray for the Church in China to be strengthened in faith, boldness, and missionary vision. Ask God to stir believers to carry the gospel beyond familiar settings and to reach peoples who have little Christian witness among them.

4. Pray that the gospel will take root among China’s minority peoples through faithful witness, Scripture, discipleship, and the work of the Holy Spirit. Ask that many families and communities will turn to Christ and that indigenous churches and leaders will be established among them.
