Day 6 – Patience with Weakness
Guiding Principle: Jesus bore with failure and immaturity while nurturing growth.
Scriptures
Luke 22:32, KJV
“But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.”
Mark 9:33-35, KJV
33 And he came to Capernaum: and being in the house he asked them, What was it that ye disputed among yourselves by the way? 34 But they held their peace: for by the way they had disputed among themselves, who should be the greatest.35 And he sat down, and called the twelve, and saith unto them, If any man desire to be first, the same shall be last of all, and servant of all.
Matthew 17:18-19 KJV
“Then Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour. 19 Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out?”
Prayer
- Thank God for the opportunity to become disciplers in the great commission. Pray that like Jesus Christ, we, ICA disciplers will have spiritual insight to be able to bear with the disciples’ immaturity and lack of spiritual foresightedness and instead pray for their protection against the devil. Pray that our faith will not faint but rather grow so that in turn we can encourage and strengthen our brethren.
- Jesus Christ called the disciples to servanthood and loved everyone. Pray that as disciplers at ICA, we shall learn from Jesus Christ to embrace a heart of service – being servants of all and to lead with humility. Pray that, as disciplers, God will grant us the ability to love all.
- The disciples of Jesus Christ disputed among themselves over greatness. Pray confessing in repentance for ourselves and on behalf of the church (ICA) for being subdued by the spirit of pride, selfishness, competition and division in pursuit of greatness. Pray that as disciplers we will be able to manage such tendencies among our disciples, as Jesus did; while enabling growth of the disciples.
- The disciples of Jesus Christ failed to cure a son who was “lunatick and sore vexed” until Jesus Christ came and rebuked the devil in him. Pray that as disciplers we will be ready to demonstrate to our disciples, the authority of Jesus Christ our Master to minister with love, compassion, faith and power of the Holy Ghost leading to the cure, healing, deliverance and freedom of the oppressed, without condemning them.
- Jesus also showed the disciples how they would have succeeded if they had done it with prayer and fasting. Pray that as disciplers, we will be knowledgeable and be willing to patiently share with our disciples secrets to victory.
Declaration:
- We declare that we will strive to be filled with the Holy Spirit in order to grow our patience to a level where we manage every weak member at ICA.
- We declare that we will bear with failure and immaturity in ICA members until we bring them to a level of maturity that is desirable.
