John 13:14–15

14 Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. 15 I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.

Matthew 11:29

 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

1 Peter 2:21-24

21 To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example that you should follow in his steps. 22 “He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth. 23 When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly. 24 “He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.”

Prayer

• Thank God that Jesus is the best model ever for everything we will ever need to know regarding discipleship. Pray that God will forgive us for failing to be models for those we are supposed to disciple.
• Jesus modelled out humility, considering His disciples better than Himself.  Pray that we will quickly learn humility and intentionally model it out to those God will lead us to disciple.
• Jesus encouraged His disciples to learn from Him.  Pray that our lives will always have good lessons for others to learn from.
• Jesus said His yoke was easy and His burden light. Pray that, like Jesus, we will make life easy for our disciples, by demonstrating how everything is possible to those that believe and how it is possible to find rest in Christ.
• Jesus left an example on how to behave in the face of suffering; He did not retaliate. Pray that we will be able to manage our sufferings and to demonstrate to our disciples that we can entrust ourselves to Him who judges justly rather than retaliating.

Declaration:

• We declare that we will imitate Christ and deliberately make our lives models for the transformation of all our disciples.
