Praying for Russia

Brief background
Russia’s modern history has been marked by conflict, corruption, and demographic decline. Its Orthodox Church, though culturally strong, struggles spiritually and has at times justified political aggression. The nation faces widespread social issues including poverty, alcoholism, abortion, and a declining population. Regions such as the North Caucasus remain deeply unreached spiritually, while Tatarstan’s Muslim population presents opportunities for evangelical witness. Prayer is needed for peace, repentance, unity among believers, and spiritual renewal across the nation.
1. Praying for peace, justice, and national stability: Pray that Russia will experience political stability, peace with its neighbors, and Godly leadership.
1 Timothy 2:1-2 – “I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.” (KJV)
2. Praying for spiritual renewal and repentance in the Church: Pray that the Russian Orthodox Church and all Christian groups will repent, return to true faith, and experience spiritual revival.
2 Chronicles 7:14 – “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”
Psalm 51:10 – “Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.” (KJV)
3. Praying for social restoration and protection of the vulnerable: Pray against poverty, addiction, abortion, suicide, and family breakdown, asking God to restore hope, heal communities, and provide for the needy.
Psalm 68:6 – “God setteth the solitary in families: he bringeth out those which are bound with chains: but the rebellious dwell in a dry land.”
Philippians 4:19 – “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” (KJV)
4. Praying for evangelism, unity, and spiritual awakening: Pray that the unreached peoples of North Caucasus, Tatarstan, and the nation at large will encounter Jesus Christ, and that believers will be united in love, boldness, and witness.
Matthew 28:19 – “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.”
John 17:21 – “That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.” (KJV).
