Reference text: Hebrews 4:12

I want to start by highlighting the fact that God speaks to us by the Spirit everyday. But He does not speak to us in the same way because we are all unique. However, He speaks to our spirit. He speaks to us in different ways.

God is so creative. He can speak to us through His miracles by way of using a donkey.In other countries where Christianity is a taboo, God is also revealing Himself through dreams.Reports confirm that an unbeliever who has never heard of Jesus dreams of Him-but does not know who this man is. Then a messenger comes,shows a film about Jesus death and resurrection and the one who dreamed recognizes the man in his dream. It's Jesus, the Son of God.

How Does God Speak To Us?

1. Through His Word in General
   • 2 Timothy 3:16 says that "all Scripture is God-Breathed,” His word sometimes gives us a warning, a word of encouragement, a lesson for life.
   • It’s His Story written with love as God’s guide for life, “so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
   • The word of God is the most accurate and reliable way through which the Holy Spirit speaks to us.
   • It is through His word that God whispers and sometimes shouts so that we are instructed and follow the principles for life.
   • As we interpret Scripture by Scripture, we avoid the false logic and misinterpretation that sneak into our world.
   • God never violates His own word or principles.
   • His word divides the soul from the spirit.It judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.
   • God has put His word at a level where it is able to expose our innermost thoughts & desires. This may be one of the reasons why most people do not read the Bible.
2. Through His Son, Jesus Christ (Hebrews 1:1-2)
   • God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, Has in these last days spoken to us by His son whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world.
   • Through the words of Jesus in the Scriptures we can hear God’s heart and God’s voice and know what God is truly like.
   • All peoples can hear the voice of God through His son by reading the Bible. This is not for a select individuals.
   • Comparing us to sheep and He as the Shephard, Jesus says in John 10:27 “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them and they follow me.”
   • The New Testament was the fulfillment of God’s special plan.it is the Gospel, the good news of Jesus Christ.
3. Through Nature and God's Creation (Romans 1:20)
   • For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities-his eternal power and divine nature-have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made so that men are without excuse.
   • Through the intricate details and magnificent beauty of all that God has made,we can hear His voice.
   • By just looking at the heavens, we understand more of God’s greatness.
4. Through Believers
   • God may use a friend, a teacher, a parent or a preacher to convey His message of truth to us.
5. Through His Spirit
   • Some may call it God’ whispers, or still small voice.
   • Once we repent of our sins and confess Jesus as our Lord and Savior, His Spirit comes to live in us. John 14:17 
   • God’s Spirit speaks to us through our conscience, helping us to make the right decision. This confirms the fact that the Spirit of man is the candle/lamp of the Lord, searching all the inward parts of the belly (Proverbs 20:27).1 Corinthians 2:10.the spirit searches all things, the deep things of God.
   • God does not lead us by our own feelings, or mind.
   • The bible says “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your understanding”.
   • God is speaking to us and wants to lead us by his spirit, but he does it by speaking to our spirit. Then our spirit speaks to us. This is the inward witness. Our conscience. Have you ever done something you know was wrong and immediately you got this ugly feeling on the inside. That is your conscience speaking to you. We may conclude that your conscience is the voice of the spirit.

1. God teach me how to listen and hear your voice
2. Holy Spirit help me not to ignore the voice of God.
