Blameless at the coming of The Lord Jesus
1 Thessalonians 5:23 AMP
“Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you through and through [that is, separate you from profane and vulgar things, make you pure and whole and undamaged—consecrated to Him—set apart for His purpose]; and may your spirit and soul and body be kept complete and [be found] blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
A few examples of those that were found blameless
- Noah - Gen 6:9
- Abraham Gen 17:1
- Job 1:1
- David Psalm 26:1
- Daniel 1:8, 6:8
- Zachariah & Elizabeth - Luke 1:6
“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. Ephesians 1:3-4 NIV
It is a choice and the responsibility rests with us
Simple Truth to be mindful of
- Christ is coming again - very soon John 14:1-4, Hebrews 9:27-28
- Life is fragile - James 4:14 -Life is short, fleeting & uncertain.
- Brevity of Life: Compares human life to a "mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes," highlighting how short our time on Earth is, especially compared to eternity.
- Uncertainty: Stresses that we don't know what tomorrow holds, so we shouldn't live presumptuously or boastfully.
- Purpose: Encourages living with meaning, focusing on God's will, having eternal persipective not just focusing on earthly gains
- Man is Spirit Soul & Body 1 Thes 5:23
The Three Parts Defined
- Body: The physical vessel, formed from the earth, allowing interaction with the material world through the five senses (sight, hearing, touch, smell, taste).
- Soul: The mind (thinking, reasoning), emotions (happiness, sorrow), and will (decisions).
- Spirit: The real you, innermost part, God-conscious, enabling connection with the Holy Spirit, that which experiences radical transformation at spiritual rebirth (Born Again)
How to keep my Spirit, Soul and Body blameless
- Satisfy the desires of the Spirit - Let the spirit overcome the body. Feed the Spirit with spiritual food that is the Word of God. “So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.” Galatians 5:16 NIV
- Self reflection - Paul checks on himself 2 Cor 13:5 5 “Examine yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Or do you not realize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?
“So I do not run aimlessly; I do not box as one beating the air. But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified.”
1 Corinthians 9:26-27 ESV
Prayer
LORD HELP ME TO DISCIPLINE MY BODY AND KEEP IT UNDER CONTROL THAT I MAY YIELD TO YOUR SPIRIT SO THAT YOU WILL FIND ME BLAMESS AT YOUR SECOND COMING
