Praying for World Situations
- Pray for the peace of Israel. More than 600 Israelis have been killed in attacks from Gaza since Saturday, and some Hamas fighters are still on Israeli territory. It's believed that as many as 100 Israeli soldiers and civilians were kidnapped when Palestinian militants crossed the border and raided communities. Retaliatory Israeli air strikes have killed at least 413 people in the Gaza Strip, with 2,300 wounded. Pray that the Lord intervenes in this situation and bring this war to an end.
- Pray for families who have lost loved ones through death or kidnapping the war. Pray that those kidnapped will be rescued. Pray for healing from the trauma and pain of losing loved ones. Pray that in such a time people will turn to the living God for answers. Pray that the Lord will reveal Himself in His own supernatural ways.
- Men are digging through rubble with their bare hands and shovels in western Afghanistan in desperate attempts to pull victims from the wreckage left by powerful earthquakes – some of the deadliest to hit the impoverished South Asian country. Officials of the ruling Taliban on Sunday said at least 2,053 people were killed and nearly 10,000 injured while more than 1,300 houses were damaged or destroyed. Pray that local and international help will get to all the affected communities. Pray for the healing and restoration of all the affected people and that the grace of God will touch lives in the process.
- People living in cities in Mali are under siege by al-Qaeda-linked militants and they are facing shortages of food, fuel and medicine, and rapidly rising prices. The blockades have come as fighting intensifies between the army and ethnic Tuareg separatist fighters. Pray for restoration of peace in cities of Mali and many other countries in North Africa that are at war. Pray that all those calling upon the name of the Lord will be saved.
- Praying immigrants: A month after an earthquake killed nearly 3,000 people, the stream of refugees transiting Morocco to Europe has continued to rise. On the other hand, USA is struggling to manage an influx of immigrants from South American countries. Pray for all immigrants across the world, be it driven by war, poverty or natural calamities. Pray that their lives will be preserved and that they will be treated with dignity. Pray against abuse and torture.
- Pray that the United Nations and other relevant international organisations will find a solution to the immigration and refugee crises. Pray that the Lord will give wisdom and compassionate hearts to the leaders responsible for providing resources and taking action.
