PRAYING FOR PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF CHINA
Habakkuk 2:14 For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD as the waters cover the sea.
Proverbs 21:1 The king's heart is a stream of water in the hand of the LORD; he turns it wherever he will.
Psalm 72:12–14 12 For He will deliver the needy when he cries, the poor also, and him who has no helper. He will spare the poor and needy, And will save the souls of the needy. He will redeem their life from oppression and violence; And precious shall their blood be in His sight.
• China’s rapid rise as a global power economically and politically has brought influence but also deep internal challenges. Political control remains tight, human rights concerns persist, and many live under pressure and limited freedoms. These realities create anxiety and uncertainty among citizens. Pray that in the midst of control and instability, many Chinese people will encounter the true peace, hope, and freedom found in Christ.
• Although China is officially atheist, the Church has grown significantly over the years often underground and under pressure. There are now millions of believers, including some within government structures, yet many cannot worship freely. Pray for strength, unity, and boldness among believers, and that the Church in China will continue to grow as a vibrant, faithful witness despite restrictions.
• Atheism has long been promoted through education and state systems, shaping generations to live without knowledge of God. Yet many are searching for truth and meaning beyond material success. Pray that atheism will be exposed as empty, and that hearts especially among young people and leaders will turn to Christ in genuine spiritual awakening.
Special groups of people that need prayer
i. Young people who are disillusioned, searching for meaning, and increasingly exposed to global ideas pray they encounter Christ in a real way.
ii. Regions experiencing unrest and tension pray for peace, reconciliation, and the power of the gospel to bring unity.
iii. Believers in positions of influence pray they will stand firm in faith and be a light within systems of power.
iv. Those suffering in silence the poor, imprisoned, and oppressed that they may experience justice, hope, and the love of Jesus.
