Day 16 - Empowered Disciples
Guiding Principle: Jesus trained disciples to minister independently under God’s power.
Scriptures
Luke 10:1–3.
After this the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them on ahead of him, two by two, into every town and place where he himself was about to go. 2 And he said to them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest. 3 Go your way; behold, I am sending you out as lambs in the midst of wolves.
Luke 9:1–2.
And he called the twelve together and gave them power and authority over all demons and to cure diseases, 2 and he sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal.
John 14:12.
Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father.
Ephesians 3:11-12.
This was according to the eternal purpose that he has realized in Christ Jesus our Lord, 12 in whom we have boldness and access with confidence through our faith in him.
Romans 15:14.
“I myself am satisfied about you, my brothers, that you yourselves are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge and able to instruct one another.”
Prayer
- Thank God for believing in us as disciples and giving us power and authority to go into enemy territory with confidence to cure diseases and drive out demons. Pray that God will forgive us for doubting this authority, despite Jesus assuring us that He would be with us and we would do greater works.
- Empowered disciples understand what to do in enemy territory. Pray that ICA disciples will develop confidence to face all the wolves that we are going to meet in the year, while remaining dependent on the Holy Spirit through and through.
- Pray that God will grant us discernment to make wise choices that align with His will, so we are not swayed by fear. Pray that God will help us trust in His promises and speak His Word without fear. Pray that our faith in Him overrules fear
- Pray that God will help us to have confidence and walk boldly in the purposes He has given us, without comparing ourselves to others or leaning on their validation. Pray that God will empower us to step out in faith, take responsibility, and act decisively without waiting for others to move first.
- Pray that God will bless the works of our hands, filling us with His goodness, and all knowledge and granting us the ability to instruct one another. Pray that we will be disciples that are able to provide for ourselves and others, becoming channels of blessing.
Declaration:
- We declare that we will continually sit at the feet of Jesus to be trained on how to handle the enemy in his territory.
- We declare that we will never trust in our own abilities in all our encounters with the enemy.
