Praying for Bible Translation and Distribution
Bible translation and distribution is a complex and long-term ministry requiring spiritual calling, linguistic skill, cultural understanding, and perseverance. Many languages have no written form, requiring translators to first develop alphabets, dictionaries, and literacy tools before Scripture can be translated. Each portion of the Bible undergoes careful checking and testing among local communities to ensure faithfulness and clarity. This work often spans decades and depends heavily on God’s strength and provision.
Although great progress has been made, the need remains urgent. Thousands of languages still have no Scripture, leaving hundreds of millions without access to God’s Word in a language they understand deeply. Bible translation and distribution is a global responsibility involving partnerships, resources, and innovation such as audio and Braille Scriptures. Despite persecution and logistical challenges, God’s Word continues to advance, and prayer is essential for the task to be completed.
1. Prayer for the call and sending: Pray that God will call and send more workers to Bible translation, distribution and missions.
“Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.” Isaiah 6:8 (KJV)
2. Prayer for the Holy Spirit inspiration: Pray that God will inspire His workers to be able to translate God’s Word with accuracy, wisdom, and faithfulness.
“The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.” Psalm 119:130 (KJV)
3. Prayer for resources and endurance: Pray that God will provide translation and distribution resources and instil perseverance in those involved in this global ministry
“Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.” 1 Thessalonians 5:24 (KJV)
4. Prayer for the Gospel outreach/World evangelisation: Pray that the Word of God will reach and transform every nation and language.
“And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.” Matthew 24:14 (KJV)
