Praying for Malawi and African People Groups

Praying for three arms of Malawi Government – The Executive, Legislative and Judiciary

Titus 3:5: He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit
1. Prayer for Salvation: Pray that God will renew their hearts (the Executive, Legislative and Judiciary) by God’s Holy Spirit, wash away their sins and fill them with fresh strength and joy, so that they may honor God as they serve His people.

2. Prayer for total dependence on the Lord: Pray that the Executive, the Legislative and Judiciary will have a consistent habit of seeking divine guidance through prayer and priestly consultation especially during times of distress. 1 Samuel 30:8

3. Pray that the Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon them (The President and his Vice, the Speaker, Vice and 193 members and the Chief Justice including the Supreme Court of Appeal and subordinate courts), the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and the Spirit of the fear of the Lord. Isaiah 11:2

Brief background: Yaos are from southern region of Tanzania, the Yaos became influential through trade with Swahili-Arabs partners exchanging ivory and slaves for cloth and firearms. They are predominantly Muslims.
2 Corinthians 4:3-4 – And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of the Christ who is the image of God.
1. Muslims faith grows fast during Ramadan, not because of religious conviction, but out of obligation to family. Pray that they and their loved ones will have a chance to hear the good news and be convicted by the Holy Spirit whether through various social media or an encounter with preachers of the gospel.
2. In Ramadan, Muslims not only fast but also increase devotion. They go to the mosque, pray and give alms more to receive favor and forgiveness of sins. Pray that the veil of blindness about salvation will be removed through the Holy Spirit conviction, that Jesus is the only truth and the way to the Father.
James 1:19 – My dear brother and sisters, take note of this: everyone should be quick to hear slow to speak, slow to anger.
3. Pray for the workers to have wisdom, sensitivity, patience and love when sharing the gospel of Jesus to Muslims.
